The FreeStyle 5 was one of the first pulse flow portable oxygen concentrators under 8 pounds to offer settings 1-5. It recently got a full redesign to make it more user-friendly and to make it more visually appealing.

Upgraded Design

The FreeStyle 5 has been on the market for a few years and it was due for an upgrade. AirSep made some internal changes to the unit to make it easier to use and more reliable while also upgrading the look of the unit.

The biggest upgrade the FreeStyle 5 received was the new battery system. The new FreeStyle 5 operates using an external battery that fits directly on the front of the concentrator. When the battery is installed, your FreeStyle 5 will weigh 6.7 pounds.

The new battery system is simpler and it eliminates the need for external battery belts or batteries that clip onto your waistband. The custom carrying case also has a special pocket to carry your extra battery.

Along with the new battery system, the FreeStyle 5 got an entirely new look. Now i is vibrant white with cool blue accents. It’s a much nicer looking machine now and it’s arguably one of the best looking machines on the market.

Same Simple Controls

One of the things that made the AirSep units so popular is their simple operation. The FreeStyle 5 has 6 buttons in total. One for each flow setting and one to check your battery life.

There really isn’t another concentrator on the market that is as easy to operate as the FreeStyle units. To turn the concentrator on, simply press the button that matches your flow setting and the concentrator will turn on. To change flow rates, simply press the button that matches your desired flow rate and the machine will automatically switch over.

Checking your battery life just takes the press of the button labeled “BATT”. After pressing the button you will see 1-4 LED lights illuminate on the control panel to indicate your remaining battery life.

Charge Your Batteries Anywhere

The AirSep FreeStyle has three different charging options available. The AC power supply, DC power supply, and the optional external battery charger.

Your package will come with the AC and DC power supplies which let you recharge your batteries and power your FreeStyle 5 virtually anywhere. The AC power supply is for home use and plugs into any wall outlet. The DC power supply is for use on the go and plugs into the cigarette lighter in your car, truck, RV, or boat.

When your FreeStyle 5 is plugged into either the AC or DC power supply your battery will recharge and your concentrator will supply you with oxygen on all 5 settings. However, if you are using your concentrator while trying to recharge your batteries, they will take longer to achieve a full charge.

The external battery charger has 2 charging bays so you can recharge two batteries at a time. It is equipped with a 110v power cord for use at home. The optional external charger lets recharge your extra batteries while you go to the doctors, run errands, or exercise. This charger can be added to any FreeStyle 5 package.
